Craig and Deborah Gallaway met at Regent College in Vancouver, B.C. where they both graduated with degrees in interdisciplinary studies. Craig has been an artist all his life, graduating from the University of Texas at Arlington with a B.F.A. degree in painting. Deborah studied in the sciences at the University of California, graduating with a B.S. degree in zoology.

Both Craig and Deborah have worked in the publishing industry, and Craig has served as the President of the Watercolor Society of Alabama. His paintings have won many awards at the national, regional, and local levels. Together they have written and performed their original music on cello and guitar in the songwriter circuits from Texas to California, Canada to Nashville.

Craig also graduated from Emory University with a Ph.D. in constructive theology before teaching at Samford University in ministry and the arts. And he served as a special consultant on the Hymns of John and Charles Wesley to the Hymnal Revision Committee of The United Methodist Church.

Craig and Deb have three sons (each an artist in his own right) and a dog named Abbie. Their youngest son, Zach, died in a motorcycle accident in 2013. (For more on their journey since Zach’s death, see the post for February 22, 2017.)
